Texas’ temporary premium tax amnesty for non-admitted captives could prompt some captive owners to reconsider where their captives are domiciled, although industry observers are divided on whether it will result in a meaningful wave of re-domestications.
The amnesty, launched by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts in July, has already prompted outreach to companies with potential exposure to the state’s unauthorised insurance premium tax.
