French Gov: Resilience reserve created “unprecedented wave” of reinsurance captives

France-domiciled captives are now reinsuring more than €200m in gross premiums, according to a French government report assessing the success of the regime nearly three years on from its introduction.

France formally entered the captive landscape in 2023, when it legislated for a specific resilience provision for reinsurance captives, somewhat comparable although not as generous, as that which has been so successful in Luxemboug.
